MOTORCYCLE VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) PLATES

These plates had 2 functions: idendity the motorcycle by a unique serial number and show as well that it complies with the legislation of the country where the motorcycle is sold.

In Europe, the number like DGM 51155 was given on those plates. See against the certification file of this DGM

 

In Europe and Australia it was aluminum plates but in USA and Canada, it was stickers.

Those plate were on the headstock from '80 to '84 and from '85 to '91 on the Right Hand side frame rail under the tank.

In addition the VIN was stamped on the headstock.
